Astounding pics! Thanks for posting, Jacques. Just like your photos of pervillei and madagascarensis, we have learned more about this little known species in one posting. There is so much revealed about the environment, and the variation of form is incredible. Is the red soil a laterite type of clay? Also, how were humidity levels and temperatures?
Temperatures at this time, even in mountain at 350m, is between 25 and 29°. It's a real lowland. The soil was just humid on the top, but some days before during my holidays in NC, i lived some hard rainy day. Most of the days it was cloudy. But you can get anyway some good colors on your skin ! About soil, lateritic soil or " red soil " developed on ultrabasic rocks are rich in metals like iron, l' aluminium, cobalt, chromium and nickel. Which is being a true poison for a great majority of plants. Here you can find a specific vegetation called " maquis ".
Thanks for showing these wonderful photos. Interesting seeing the variation within this species. The form with dark lower pitchers is very pretty, and I have to say that the inflorescence on this species is rather nice too.
Also nice seeing photos of D. neocaledonica, a species that I have had problems with. So much that I don't really miss it after losing it from my collection. Maybe having the right soil could have been the key to have it grow better. Good to see it does well in the wild though.
Fantastic pictures. The picture quality is just amazing. Please tell me what camera you are using and the type of lens used. These pictures clearly belong in a book. very very nice. thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for showing us a plant that we never see around! I remember a french guy many years ago bringing around the worl his experience and photos of N. vieillardii in habitat. You photos are wonderful, they give the idea of the romantic way this plant grows in these unique and extraterrestrial-like habitats. And they show how these plants are real pioneers!
thanks a lot for your compliment. It's nice from you. All plants i've seen were in bloom. The seeds are between january and february. I've got a small camera, a Nikon Coolpix P4. I had the same for the pervillei and madagascariensis report. I plan to go next year in Australia for an other pitcher plant, the one and only one cephalotus.
Wow, you sure did take a lot of nice photographs! Seeing this many photos, from several locations has really helped me understand this species better. thanks!
These are some really bad companies, all shells of Plantron Inc., so don't order from them unless you want small and dead plants they don't want to refund:
Farmer Seed and Nursery
Four Seasons Nursery
House of Wesley
Richard Owen Nursery
How do garbage companies like these stay in business, ripping people off year
thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.

vidyut: Photobucket has ruined this place and many other forum archives with years and years of photos worth referencing now blurred. Priceless information hostage to services once free, begging for adoption, arbitrarily monetized.
