This thread will serve as a place to log pre-registration data for creations by members that will eventually become part of the International Nepenthes Grex Registry.
August of this year marks the beginning of the two-year transitionally period of this new grex registry. Breeders that wish to participate in the new registry will be expected, over the course of the two year transitional period, to supply all data required by the rules of registry for those creations they wish to document and register. This data would need to be competed, with descriptions, dates, derivations, etc. by August 2009. During this two-year period the data compiled will be organized by the "date of pollination" of each particular grex in order to establish a time-line and establish registration priorities for those breeders with a backlog of plants to be registered. After August of 2009 all registrations would then logged on a first-come, first-served, basis.
The new registry does not officially begin until August of this year but, with the potentially large task of incorporating previously created but undocumented greges, it is not to early to begin compiling preliminary information.
I sincerely hope that members and guests here at pitcher-plants. com will take the time and opportunity to start compiling some simple and essential data about the plants they have created in the past.
For the purposed of this pre-registry, participants would be expected to supply only the very minimum of information: 1) proposed grex name (if desired), 2) derivation of the grex, 3) date of creation (date of pollination), and name of individual breeder(s) or nursery. If, a breeder wishes to supply the further information that will be required for full registration they should feel free to do so. Those wishing to participate should review the decision tree for grex registration before attempting to post their data. (alohanepenthes.com/grex/1r.htm)
I would suggest that each breeder 'reply' to this thread only one time. That response can then be edited by the author and updated or continued at their leisure. I would further ask that members and guests not respond to the postings unless they have essential or significant information to add to descriptions, etc. This thread is not intended to be a discussion (although some discussion will surely take place) but rather a preliminary database and should remain on-topic at all times (all postings not necessary for the registry will be quickly deleted).
Let us begin.
