Hi people, upon request I opened this sub-board "Nepenthes in the wild". I tried to move all related threads to this board. I am sure I forgot some in my hurry, so feel free to point me to the missing ones. Best, Volker
Hint: I am SURE this board will MOTIVATE some of the Asian people (or those visiting) to add more habitate images to this forum...
A month ago i have some visitors from Kalimantan and other provinces of Indonesia. I do hope they too can post more as there are species/natural hybrids that are known locally but unknown to outsiders.
So much of Sarawak and Kalimantan are still unexplored and it is not a surprise new species (neps, other flora and fauna)will be discovered in future.
Travelling to inland is hindered by hills ,mts and rivers. Rivers the only form of transport by wooden boat, and most of the time will be traversing on foot.
weight problem of foodstuffs and equipment -though this can be solved using native settlers who also act as guides of the area. Volker you have organised such trip and you know pretty well the ground problem
We have new national parks bordering sarawak and kalimantan and it is interesting what is installed. For the moment only scientists(foreign and local) and our Forest and coservation dept are allowed in to conduct field research.
I have very understanding 2 travelling partners who are as eager as me to arrange everything so i hope more images/info will be posted here.

Hi ady...I have heard enough, I was wrong noted you have a same vision to save our nepenthes.. I really out of my mind...why you so proud remove them (hundred of whaa?? ) from their peacefully natural habitat.. is it the way by taking hundred of whaa?? is save our nepenthes? I'm not quite sure you're Nepenthes saviour.. now that poached plant (because it's happened)..if you wise and have a broad mind...cultivate them and return to their habitat.. and in the next...don't do that again...
"Nepenthes in the wild born for it's habitat,Cultivated nepenthes born for living with us"
Just give a little info..recently I found another new habitat of N.gymnamphora near Malang, east java, 3 day ago...it was 2 hour trekking from near village... unfortunately, when I arived as soon....I saw the remain.... uh..I can say "fossil" of Nepenthes (the basal has poached and the climbing stem is abandoned) I don't have any idea who responsible for this?! from it's remain there are an evidence when this gymnamphora still alive..the intermediate pitcher about 20 cm.....and now that was a history..
thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.

vidyut: hey mylesg. glad to hear that. Love this forum. Facebook can't organize knowledge like this. Will participate as much as I can.

vidyut: Photobucket has ruined this place and many other forum archives with years and years of photos worth referencing now blurred. Priceless information hostage to services once free, begging for adoption, arbitrarily monetized.
