Descriptions in order 1. Immature utricularia longifolia bladder. Lipid red, carbohydrate green, DNA blue 2. Mature utricularia longifolia bladder. Same stain as before. You may notice all the little lipid stained red glands on the exterior surface of the bladder. My understanding is that these are the excretory gland that remove water from the interior of the bladder to create suction.. 3. High magnification image of an excretory gland on a u. longifolia bladder 4. Wide view of glands on the bladder stalks. Notice that the glands are largely absent on the large stalks, while present on the small stalks directly connected to the bladder. 5. High mag image of a stalk gland 6. Nepenthes reinwardtiana pollen, DNA blue, carbohydrate green, lipid red, projection along the z-axis of an acquired image stack.
Colors are set at values that display best on my computer. You may want to brighten or dim colors if your display settings are different

thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.

vidyut: Photobucket has ruined this place and many other forum archives with years and years of photos worth referencing now blurred. Priceless information hostage to services once free, begging for adoption, arbitrarily monetized.
