I've grown this species for several decades now and can tell you there is quite a lot of variability in this species, there is also a huge difference between the Genting Highlands and the Cameron Highlands populations. Walter can tell you of a plant that I had in my greenhouse in Cuddebackville, NY during the late '80's that was from the Genting Highlands that had nearly black pitchers and a very wide solid red peristome that was over 22 cm in length. Other plants of ther same species were less colored, somewhere between orange to green with striped peristomes.
"I'm not suffering from insanity! I'm rather enjoying it, actually!"
I looked at the photo of the "black sanguinea" posted there and even before reading the above comment, I thought "now that looks like a cross with ramispina to me!"
Yes i agree , i bet this is a ramispina hybrid. The shape of lid, missing inner pattern in pitcher, wing shape/length,peristome shape. I bet this plant does have "thin papery" pitchers like ramispina. But in my pictures i dont see any bigger differences in comparisons with common N.sanguinea except the size of the pitchers. Some pictures are not taken from a good angle, so they look distorted ( second picture is the worst ).
thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.

vidyut: hey mylesg. glad to hear that. Love this forum. Facebook can't organize knowledge like this. Will participate as much as I can.

vidyut: Photobucket has ruined this place and many other forum archives with years and years of photos worth referencing now blurred. Priceless information hostage to services once free, begging for adoption, arbitrarily monetized.
