So i was just wondering. most of the time when i buy expensive plants like heli's and cephs, they ship it potted. So my question was which method is better/safer for the plant; bareroot or potted?
thanks!

I guess potted would be better as the plant will experience less stress this way... however, the added weight but the media and pot may be a disadvantage.

At least in my experience, Heliamphora and cephs suffer from root disturbance much more than Nepenthes and other CPs. Since they are relatively compact in stature, it usually isn't too costly to ship potted and it saves months of recovery time that would be required if shipped bareroot. I have found 4-8 months recovery time is required for vigorous growth to resume even in ideal conditions.

Bare-rooted, for the most part, has been a far more successful method for me as well, since the pitchers themselves are very brittle; and the added weight of the pot and compost is more a problem than solution . . .

I've done it both ways & received many from either approach. The packing is probably more important. A poorly wrapped potted plant will probably suffer more damage than a well wrapped bareroot plant.
