Ventricosa "Denver" is known for it's pitcher size. It has pitchers that are 2-3x bigger then the normal ventricosa. It's a awsome plant. I have 2 cuttings that I got from michell and on his plant he had a basal that was about 4-5 inches across and the pitcher was about 6-7 inches!

I got ventricosa "Denver" from Philcula about 4 years ago. If I remember correctly, it was given to him by a friend that lived in Denver Colorado. But I don't know who. It is a female and the pitchers do get HUGE for a ventricosa. Here are some old pics. Average lower pitcher next to a one gallon pot. Uppers are much smaller I'll try to get some new pics when I have more time. Hope this helps. Mitchell

A first glance it looks somewhat similar to my seed grown "burkei" which obviously isn't a burkei but was sold as one. The pitchers aren't quite as large, but the lowers on the basal have gotten well into the 5-6 inch range. The uppers are very similar and much, much smaller compared to the lowers.

Jeremiah, I thought it may have been you, but obviously I am mistaken. Maybe he will chime in and help clear this up? caesium, Wow, they look a lot alike. I'm curious to find out where this plant came from. Mitchell

I'm fairly confident that this clone came from me. I think I still have it. If I'm not mistaken, I got this plant from Peter D'Amato about 15 years ago.

Really!?!? ;D Did you live in Denver at the time you gave it to him? Otherwise, I really don't know where the name came from. If this ventricosa did come from you, do you know where Peter got it? Mitchell

Just saw this thread. I don't have any information on this plant. I DO know that I did not receive this plant directly from Jeff. I didn't know him back then. I got my cutting from Chuck Powell some 10 years ago at least. He claims he had gotten it from a friend who lived in Denver. So...if Jeff gave a cutting to Chuck Powell, then there's your answer. I got it from Chuck who got it from Jeff who got it from Peter who got it from ?
Phil

Dear Forum,
I have this one of this variety too, mine is female. I think it came from Chicago Botanical Gardens...

Ah, now it's clear. I have a plant that looks just like the one shown. However, if this came from Chuck, by way of Denver, then I'm pretty confident that it came from Terry Chatterton, not from me as I stated earlier....

Sadly, I don't know who Terry Chatterton is. Does Terry work at Chicago Botanical Gardens? The origin hunt continues. Mitchell
