so i bought a sarracenia rhizome and when it started growing, it produced these weird leaves.i know its a sarracenia for sure though because its now putting up some pitchers but i was just wondering what the heck they are? its more like a type of flower than a actual leaf.
Uhm, easy to solve! ...if you haven't already. Gently uproot it and you will see that it is NOT part of the Sarracenia. This is normal for weeds to grow intermingled with other plants, roots inter-twined and everything! The nature of seed is to get trapped, washed against a plant and then germinates.
To offer a tip, get the thing out of there, as it will only get bigger and then really send roots out all over!
Removing it will not hurt the pitcher plant, however assuming you may not be real experienced with plants, feel free to PM me about how to re-pot plants safely. While quite resilient, you do still want to be careful when removing the weed or re-potting the plant.
And I have frequently seen this weed in CP's, comes in on LFS or peat, or the plants themselves. Good luck.

Hi, I agree with mesaman and spagman that is NOT a sarracenia. I'm by no means an expert but that is not a sarracenia. That's a very common bog weed I have a few growing in my sarracenia. I'd do what spagman suggested because it's not very attractive and it will probally will spread through your collection.
I looked online It's kind of bog hair grass called DESCHAMPSIA SETACEA.

If your Juncus sets seed, it will be in all your pots.
These are some really bad companies, all shells of Plantron Inc., so don't order from them unless you want small and dead plants they don't want to refund:
Farmer Seed and Nursery
Four Seasons Nursery
House of Wesley
Richard Owen Nursery
How do garbage companies like these stay in business, ripping people off year
thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.

vidyut: hey mylesg. glad to hear that. Love this forum. Facebook can't organize knowledge like this. Will participate as much as I can.

vidyut: Photobucket has ruined this place and many other forum archives with years and years of photos worth referencing now blurred. Priceless information hostage to services once free, begging for adoption, arbitrarily monetized.
