Twoton, you lucky dawg.... and you don't have an obsession with veitchii as a species, but you have a very nice individual there.

I have this plant too, but it just refuses to pitcher for me since April this year, although growing steadily its foliage. Care to share more about growing conditions? The leaves look nicely tanned, i guess its getting good light exposure? thanks "
We grow them in typical conditions, nothing special. They grow side by side with N. truncata in bright light. The veitchii leaves are even showing bronze color. I think the mother (or pod parent) was Exotica's (f) - which you can see pictured on their site, check out the peristome. The other siblings range from all green to spotted, only a select few are the dark color. Here are a few of the siblings, these are older pics off our site, I should take updated photos soon.
Twoton your veitchii is exquisite. You've done a superb job growing it.
Michael- Any of your pollen would be grand. I still have some pollen left over of your thorelii x TM. I agree it too would be a great mate with spectabilis. I'm drooling over the prospect of crossing it with Sam's rafflesiana as well. Our plants should both be flowering at exactly the same time. Now...if only I could get my big female ventricosa x clipeata to flower. She seems to have missed her schedule this year.
It's still a juvenile, but as it matures I would expect the striping to become stronger, and colors will intensify-especially the spotting on the pitcher. The Bario veitchii have distinct rounded pitchers and long necks that arc forward -unlike the typical lowland forms.
Just when I was beginning to think 4 veitchiis were enough.... I should have snagged that lowland x highland when I had a chance and those seed grown EP clones are looking very nice too. Is anyone still selling them?
A day without Nepenthes is like a day without sunshine! -- steve
Question, is nepenthes Veitchii pink a lowlander and bau an intermediate or are my plants retarded, i have 1 of each and my pink (long slender traps) makes about 2-3 pitchers a month (which i thought was really fast for veitchii) but the bau (hairy...er, heavy built, shorter) makes 1 per month or two, they are in my Townsville greenhouse, they both get the same conditions, 15-20c nights (60ish or 65ish F, i think it converts to), 25-27c (80ish F) days (Such low temps are really hard to maintain here and are acheived by misting 3 times a day and once at night), 80-90% humidity (its a polyhouse not shadecloth, for humidity retention) and full sun from 7.30-8am until 10am then partial for the rest of the day (until 1-2 then there is full sun for 30-40min due to the location of the trees that shade it), they are both young plants from captive exotics AU.

plantguyty1: Does anybody need pollen? I have N. Miranda it's the first time it flowered for me so I do not know if its sterile or a good candidate. Is there anybody with an active female that would like to give my pollen a shot?

thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.
