Hi sunbelle, excellent vikings as usual. I just wanted to ask...how do you keep those pitchers so well coloured? I find that my viking pitchers well with good lighting. But i am currently hanging up a 'vivid red' and its pitchers are getting 'bleached' by sunlight, although they are of a good size, just greener. This observation is also the same with some other vikings - pitchers in the shade put on good colour, while the surfaces exposed to light dont. How do you do what you do? thanks
Hi Lamwn, We really don't do anything to get the red color. We grow Vikings in the bright section (south side) of the greenhouse, and some of the pitchers fall into a slighterly shadier zone, but hardly deep shade. We also have Vikings on benches, and the pitchers formed in the spaces between the pots are always intensely colored. The roof of the greenhouse is covered with 70 percent Aluminet shade cloth, so we do not grow them in full sun. Perhaps this is a factor? Also, they get fertilized regularly, which could contribute to better color??
Thanks Francois, It's one of our favorites as well. As far as we know, the official publishing of a description of Nepenthes globosa has not yet occurred, so a scientific name is not yet in place. We still prefer to call it Viking (even though we will refer to it as 'globosa' every now and then) until Dr. Kurata publishes his description.

plantguyty1: Does anybody need pollen? I have N. Miranda it's the first time it flowered for me so I do not know if its sterile or a good candidate. Is there anybody with an active female that would like to give my pollen a shot?

thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.
