I am from Manila, Philippines so it is ironic that my first ever Nepenthes was bought in Japan, hey at least I am sure it was not poached. The problem is that the shop in Japan didn't really give much info about the plant, it just said Nepenthes Sp. Informative! When I got my plant, it had 2 small pitchers, but they all turned brown and was therefore trimmed, I think that the plant was also getting used to a different environment. Anyways now there are 3 new leaves which is nice and green, so hopefully plant is happy now, no pitchers yet though, but there is a bit of end that is shaping up to be a pitcher. Now I wonder if anyone can help me ID my plant, without a pitcher? Or should I wait till I get a pitcher and post again? TTFN Arvin

Thanks Alex and Nep 369. Yeah I am almost sure that it going to be a common species as it was bought from a gardening section of a hardware mall in Japan. will post more pics when pitcher (hopefully) develops. TTFN Arvin

after checking photos of N. Ventrata, yeah my Nepenthes does look like one, and probability of the shop having an beginner Nep is high. The pitchers in photos in the web also looks like the ones it had when I first got it.
Thanks again guys! TTFN Arvin

Another, less likely possibility is N. tobaica * N. ventricosa. Sometimes this one is sold under the name N. tobaica.

;D yes Dave, possible but less likely.
N. x ventrata from Holland I reckon. Arvin, can you remember what color the pitchers were before they went brown? Sort of orange perhaps?

Since the plant is just starting to make pitchers again, this isn't 100%, but it sure does like like the F1 generation of N. x ventrata. 99% sure.
