I was up at the local TAFE today and went for a wander inside their glass house and one of the guys showed me this funny irragation system they had for seedlings. it was a little flat peice of sheet metal welded onto a small shaft with a weight on the other end and what would happen is when the flap was up the mister for the seedlings would come on then when enough water built up onto the bit of sheet metal that would force the lever down and stop the water flow, this was a very small peice of equipment which he said was very cheap, dose anyone have a clue or pic of what im talking about and were i can get one? i think theyd be great for nep seedlings. BTW:rite next to the little peice of equipment was a cut nepenthes ventricosa vine (big surprise to find one around here) went into the poly tunnel and there was a plant with a mass of vines and pitchers.
They are used in propagation houses for rooting cuttings. Probably keep your seedlings too wet. They are designed so that the cuttings are kept just barely wet on the leaf surface 24hrs a day. Since the water evaporates at a different rate between day/night sun/clouds etc they are self regulating to the changing environment but yet are able to maintain the near 100% humidity around the cuttings without waterlogging them.
thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.

mylesg: i havent checked in here for a while, why does it seem all the CP forums have lost their once strong activity? the trade/sale section used to be so active and now its a ghost town. where is everybody hanging out these days for a strong online CP community?

vidyut: Photobucket has ruined this place and many other forum archives with years and years of photos worth referencing now blurred. Priceless information hostage to services once free, begging for adoption, arbitrarily monetized.
