what is the name of the plant that its seed in contact with water explodes shooting those little seeds

have you a picture ? perhaps dorstenia ? look the post " dorstenia bahiensis" perhaps it is these plants.no  jeff

Well... there are several species on several genera that do this. To my mind come: Pilea Microphylla, some Dorstenia species, some Oxalis species and Peperomia pellucida. All of them expell their seeds when water touches the pods/fruits as a mechanism to ensure that the surounding conditions are correct for germination.

Anyone in the USA south of the Mason Dixon line and east of the Mississippi River will probably be able to recognize these seeds.
