No, I'm not talking about Las Vegas, but about a new spot of kerangas-lined peat swamp forest (or peat-swamp lined kerangas, not sure) we discovered last weekend out in Magic Pitcher Land. This time, we found a lovely little loop trail that dazzled us with entire battalions of a hybrid which I'd previously only seen once in the wild - N. x hookeriana. The unfortunately named "hookers" (I had a bit of a time explaining the moniker to my sons, who naturally suspected something uncouth) are among my absolute favorite Nepenthes; I think I had half a dozen different forms in my greenhouse back when. Naturally, they're even more spectacular in the wild.
Also found in the area was a pink(yes, pink) rafflesiana var. giant, a color I'd never seen before, not even in nursery catalogs.
And as if we hadn't been blessed enough, at the end of the trail we chanced upon a Nepenthes graveyard - a toppled tree whose crown had been completely overgrown with carnivorous vines that had died alongside with their host. Great stuff for artsy black-and-white shots :-)
Pistols at dawn!
Pink rafflesiana. What a spectacular find indeed (well, for this greenhorn, at last)
A few more var. "giant"
No, I didn't place that gracilis pitcher there. This tableau "The Huge, The Dead, and The Tiny" was shot as found.
Where pitchers go to die
The aerial stuff didn't disappoint either
And with these Waldo images (how many pitchers can you find?) I shall close the show
Wait! Found a vegetarian plant, too! No idea what it was, but it grew on a tree.

plantguyty1: Does anybody need pollen? I have N. Miranda it's the first time it flowered for me so I do not know if its sterile or a good candidate. Is there anybody with an active female that would like to give my pollen a shot?

thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.
