Hey guys, I created www.nepenthesisland.com/ as a resource site for carnivorous plants. The resource guides are currently being built, as the site is still young and I just finished getting it functioning well. The site also includes a forum, forum.nepenthesisland.com/ ... The forum is even younger than the main site, but I'm hoping to grow it. I'll be doing a seed giveaway for my 1,000 YouTube subscriber celebration (likely in July, just pollinated yesterday) and more giveaways to come.
My goal for the forum is to create a sophisticated environment where people can come together and discuss carnivorous plant cultivation, as well as other related subjects and similar hobbies. The environment that Gesellschaft für fleischfressende Pflanzen forum has is what I want to achieve, a place that is active, yet almost completely on-topic and formal, yet friendly and fun. Similar in aspects to the environment here.
Even if you aren't too much into the forum as of yet (I know it looks visually bleh, this is a WIP), it may not hurt to bookmark www.nepenthesisland.com/guides/ because I'm working to create guides on the most common carnivorous plant questions from novice to advanced, many of the ideas stemming from questions posted on this forum.
So basically, another web resource that mirrors what is already being done here.
Elaborate, if you wouldn't mind? The forum is only but a section of the website. By the same logic, sites like Nitrogen Seekers mimic what is being done in POTM contests here.
I think he is talking about the part where you say, "where people can come together and discuss carnivorous plant cultivation, as well as other related subjects and similar hobbies." Carnivorous Plants in the Tropics already covers that base, people already come together to discuss carnivorous plant cultivation and etc, by having more and more forums we kind of spread the already small cp fan base thinner.
That sentence is nothing to fixate on, I'm not sure why Paul picked it out. I basically just described the average forum. Still, by what Paul is saying, I'd be replicating every forum that exists. I referenced a forum environment I'd like to have in the following sentence. What I meant was that I want to maintain a drama-free environment that is focused primarily on discussion of plants, not focused on bickering over useless subjects (similar to this)...
Again, I didn't create a site just for a forum. This topic is primarily www.nepenthesisland.com/ and I mentioned the forum as a socialization feature, otherwise the site would be purely reading. My main focus isn't the forum.

plantguyty1: Does anybody need pollen? I have N. Miranda it's the first time it flowered for me so I do not know if its sterile or a good candidate. Is there anybody with an active female that would like to give my pollen a shot?

thatoneplantboi: Hey guys, I'm new to growing nepenthes, I'm getting a mini indoor greenhouse to grow them in. What kind of light should I use for them? Also, if you could provide a link to a product, it would be very much appreciated

borneo: Yes, they work superbly. But you don't need expensive lights, cheap ones work well too.
