There are many veitchii growing in the undisturbed forest belonging to one of the local residents. some were growing on either side of the path leading to the house. Another that i came across that look like climbing. Observing closely infact it was leaning against the tree and growing against it. with the tree as support its stem was able to encircle and clasped, continue to grow upwards. At the moment the tip was 1.6metre from the ground. some visitors commented because of the absent of many large trees where veitchii crawls on the ground instead. some ground pitchers.

Fascinating, Robert. Do you know what are typical night time low temps for that location?

Trent, temp for the night 12⁰C and humidity 99%, day temp.would be about 27⁰C and approx.humidity 65%. Another natural phenomenon experiencing in the area was heavy mist from late evening till early morning. If it doesn't rain for many days the mist laden with moisture blanketing the ground which can be an influencing factor for veitchii pitcher to grow to very large size. a misty morning- location Bario/ Pa'Ukat It was 12⁰C early morning in my room. By the time i'm ready to get a reading with the veitchii as background the temp has climbed. I will take another accurate reading in my next visit. Location - Pa'Umor

Wow, it is very interesting to note these misty conditions are exactly what N. northiana needs as well.
Thanks Robert, these photos are beautiful.

Wow! Those temperatures are what we have in winter. Would expect the northiana temperatures, including the mist, would be significantly warmer.
