Cheers for that pollen Kev (and Morbus!), which lowii form was it you sent me?
Hopefully if it's still viable then we should have some petiolata x lowii seed in a few months which will be interesting.
Look forward to seeing the new crosses Geoff, if your after a female glabrata you could put an add up in the pollen trade? Personally I'd love to see inermis x lowii (or reversed).

Thanks Geoff I shall look forward to your future releases! Tm x Predator sounds like a winner! I was just wondering have you attempted or are there any other crosses using a female tm that you have made we can look forward to in the distant future?

Hi , I wonder why EP plants acclimate so easily once reached. They grow so well sometimes I neglect them and kill them :hitmyself:

Hi All. lance: I agree in part that N.Predator is a bit difficult to breed with but I think it is more about flower viability. They don't seem to last long. No, we did not get that many N.TM x Predator but more than usual. For example, we have one N.lowii x Predator and one N.merrilliana x Predator but we got quite a few N.maxima x Predator. kevnep:Yes, N.lowii x glabrata would be good. It may look like a large N.pitopangi. We will probably do N.ventricosa and N.sibuyanensis x lowii this year although I think that the reverse crosses with the female lowii are superior. I say this as the female traits always seem to dominate in a primary hybrid. Yes, it is the Mt.Kinabalu form of N.lowii. kevnep:Not at the moment. It would be an interesting cross though as the toughness of TM pitchers would probably strengthen the annoying softness of hamata. nepenthesxtrus: Yes, we have TM x burbidgeae growing on also. calng424: Easy TLC. Hi Mitchell, Nice to hear from you and thanks for the kind words. Hope all is going well for you. No, Fosters isn't Australian for beer. Actually you don't see it around much. I think Jack Daniels is Australian for beer!! pebes:No, that's kangaroos your thinking about. Cheers, Geoff

Thanx for the answers. Yes i agree with you hybrids with the female lowii are superior but i lova all lowii hybrids. Lowii x predator should be funky!

My mouth is watering at the sound of TM X burb... now my mind is racing to decide what the best configuration of traits would be, Lol I think im going to settle on big and bulbous, white with sparse maroon flecks and teeth oh, and a stripy peristome please make it so, please please!!

Geoff,
I read on the website that Tony was the proprietor and started out with Orchids.....When did EP officially open it's doors?
It also seems EP is also associated with quality making any plant that carriers the moniker worth more in the used market; how long did it take to establish such a reputation?
I have been in this world of plants for only a couple months and the main challenge I face is always finding new information/better ways to do things which obsoletes what I have currently learned(I'm sure drive my poor plants nuts). How long does it generally take to accumulate enough knowledge to hit that "wall" where you just know what works best without even experimenting anymore?
For those of us growing plants in an artificial environment; in your experience/opinion is there any benefit to simulating moonlight?
I have an available west facing window in my home and I believe I can manage the temp by turning on the circulation fan while the sun is shining through the terrarium. I have a 10,000 lumens t5 setup for my lowlanders....how would sun through a west facing window compare? would the difference in light intensities and spectrum agitate the plants? I am assuming it would be best to turn the terrarium lights off during sunlight exposure? Would it be worth the trouble for 2-3h of natural sun a day in your opinion?
lastly, I have a mirabilis var echinostoma I transplant shocked. first off the plant was agitated from going from someone elses terrarium conditions to mine and second off I had to repot it only 10 days after potting it out of the box due to thrips......I have kept it alive and it seems like it is maintaining itself but has had hardly any growth...only about 1/10 of an inch on a new leaf in the last month. I hear that the mirabilis is one of the fastest growing plants so this has got to be unusual expecially when my raffensia var elongata and bicalcarata both grow like mutants. In you opinion; is it going to wake up or slowly die?

Hi All, cpbobby, I think you may have stumped me with some of your questions . Firstly though, I am not sure if you are mixing us up with Tony Paroubek but we are not the same nursery. Our only relationship is that Tony is a good customer and from what I can tell, a decent person. We are www.exoticaplants.com.au , Tony is www.exoticplantsplus.com. EP has been in business just over 20 years now. We do have an affiliation with plants but a lot of what we do has been trial and error and we still experiment. I encourage you to do the same but give it time to see results. We do not grow under artificial light so cannot help you with that. Do a search on the forum or ask the question in a thread. I don't think simulating moonlight does much and you are probably trying to hard, unless you are trying to attract werewolves or serenade your girlfriend ;D. Regarding sunlight and a terrarium, all I can say is that it will heat up very quickly, especially in the afternoon sun. The light would benefit your plants as long as you can keep the heat away and remember, the glass will maginfy both light and heat!! If your conditions are correct, the echinostoma should rally around. Keep the humidity high and perhaps spray with a fungicide as it is in a weakened condition. Nepenthes are very resilient if the conditions are correct. Hope this helps. Cheers, Geoff

Yes you are correct about the confusion about the site name.....i thought both of your sites were affiliated. foot in mouth moment there. 20 years..out of curiousity; Did the proliferation of internet service help grow EP's reputation or did you already have a stong "word-of mouth" following before hand? I am not personally attempting to simulate moonlight but read about it online on a thread where someone had a very nice terrarium. I will wait til that echinostoma gets it's strength back before moving on the light experiment...but i will give it a shot when the time is right. I do not anticipate too many issues as long as the exhaust fan is running. just move further from the windows until temperature is favorable. thanx for the help there.

Hi All. cpbobby:We have always provided good service and maintained our integrity of what we supply and our quality as we wanted to sell what we were happy to receive. Then we always try and improve and appreciate feedback. The internet has definitely helped us reach more customers and enabled us to post pics etc. with ease. kevnep: No, not yet and I won't hold my breath. Cheers, Geoff
