hey geoff
i need some advice the last order you sent me was a disaster the plant inspectors in the cape didnt show up for work for two weeks so the plants were very weak when i got them.
now ive tried to acclimate the plants to my greenhouse but ime failing miserably because theyve simply sustained too much damage thanx to those idiots! ive already had a few casualties especially with the lowii hybrids. ive moved them into my lowland tank hoping that the extremely high humidity might save them.
was this a wise decision? every time i lose a plant my heart breakes so i really want to save them

Hi All. kevnep: I can imagine how you feel as it is so frustrating to us that these so called authorities just don't seem to care It is usually the lack of light that causes the damage although the foam boxes do allow some light. I would suggest to keep them a bit shaded and humid but not above 70% as they could rot. Do not overwater them and perhaps spray with a fungicide. No, do not put the lowii or highland hybrids in a lowland tank as you will stress them more. Send us some pics so we have a better idea of the damage. Thanks. Geoff

Hi Geoff,
I noticed on your catalog that you have N lowii x (northiana x veitchii) listed for sale but under the description it says that you used your huge red female northiana x veitchii. It made me curious as to whether you put the female's name first in your hybrid names, as is general convention with Nepenthes.
Thanks, Noa
p.s. It sounds like an amazing hybrid!

Hi All.
Thanks, Noa and Kevin. Yes, just a typo, females are always first. All fixed now.
Cheers,
Geoff

It made me curious as to whether you put the female's name first in your hybrid names, as is general convention with Nepenthes. Dear Noa, Is that great or what? We can identify errors and get them fix in "real time" instead of being confused by errors for years on end... I just love it In Latin nomenclature, the female parent is always listed first. If one cannot tell which species was the female parent, then the species believed involved are listed in alphabetical order. Not just for neps, but all living things were the sex matters, or might matter.

Geoff: do you have photos of the N. (lowii x veitchii)-red x boschiana tat EP just released? How much does it differ compared to the previous N. (lowii x veitchii) x boschiana cross?

Hi All. LobsterX: The new cross seedlings are still a bit small to show many characteristics but they are showing more colour in that most are red in their leaves and pitchers. Below are some pics of the different lowii x veitchii parents to show you what traits will come into play. pills23: These seedlings are still quite small so really can't say too much except their colour is very dark even at this size and it will be exciting to see what two lots of lowii does in the cross. maurolucis: You are very welcome. Thank you. Cheers, Geoff
