Geoff was asking about our N. rajah on another thread. Here are a few photos. All the plants are from TC from the usual 4 clones. They have been in TC for around 20 years and no mutations (so far). We don't know yet whether they are male or female. Maybe the largest of them will flower soon. They are grown in clay (with a topping of coco-chips simply to stop the clay from splashing up too much).
We literally didn't want to throw them away as we had too many in TC and planted them outdoors as an experiment that sort of, well, grew. There are about 20,000 in total at various sizes from 1" dia upwards. Anyone have any ideas what do do with them The oldest of them has been out there for about 5 years now.
Some views of one of what we call our "rajah patches". These plants are grown hard with a lot of light. Some insect prey and also Osmocote.

Here are the only plants out of 25,000 from TC that have produced variegated foliage. Why? I have no clue.

Another "rajah patch". The largest plants we have are on the left.

Wow Rob, thats a little collection you've got going on there I love the planted plants and how natural it all looks. I was in your neck of the woods this past month..well, in India, but I could almost see that large Rajah from Gujarat!

Rob, send 200 of them to me. And I will let you know if they can grow in lowland conditions or in the coolhouse at HortPark.

Rob,
It does not look as if it gets very cold there. What are you low temperatures?

Sam,
Sorry, don't know faranheit and sorry, too lazy at this time of night to convert, or even spell it properly (!) so you can do the math!
25-28 deg C day and 11-13 deg C night. No annual fluctiation outside that range. N. villosa will grow here but sooo slowly. The Mesilau area of Gng. Kinabalu probably gets a bit colder than this I expect. Similar altitude but up to 2000' or so higher than we are.

On the one hand - that is an inspirational sight
On the other - I'm depressed it will be so hard and long a road to get anywhere close to those maturing plants
Well done Rob

Just beautiful, Rob. The terrace garden view in photo #3 is amazing. Well done. Paul

Hi all:
I like the large ones on the left. Please Rob, you should do a workers head count every night, just in case one slipped accidentally into one of those pitchers
